Alright, it’s crunch time. Only a few days left in the Galaxy Ascendant 3 indiegogo campaign, and there’s still a fair mount of ground to cover. This is by no means an insurmountable goal, however, and we very much still can reach the goal required to cover the production costs for putting out this awesome book (costs that include the cover art, editing, and new galaxy map, which I recently revealed here.)
So today, I wanted to talk a little bit about the Galactic level tiers, those which can, unsurprisingly, so the most to help push the campaign to where it needs to be. There was limited space to write about what exactly those perks entailed on the campaign itself, so let’s delve a bit deeper into them here.
Have you ever watched a movie, or read a book set in a space opera universe like Star Wars and imagined yourself there, as a part of an imperial navy crew, or a rebels fighting against said repressive empire, or somewhere else, like working for a seedy crime lord?
These perks allow you to do just that. Once the campaign concludes, we would work together to craft a character that will appear in Galaxy Ascendant 4. Your name (or the name of someone else you’ll supply once the campaign ends) will be adapted to fit one of the many alien species in the Galaxy Ascendant as we determine where you’d want your character to appear (that would help narrow down what species options are available). Beyond these basic attributes, we can certainly develop some more beyond that; in fact, I’m open to the idea of crafting a brief backstory for your character as well. After all, once they’re in the book, they’re as much a part of the Galaxy Ascendant as any other character. And, as I mention over there, while the characters are guaranteed one appearance, that in no way precludes additional appearances—and for those who’ve read the series so far, you will have seen recurring side characters.
And, of course, the three Galactic-level tiers each have their own distinct places. “Visit the Galaxy Ascendant” guarantees one character appearance in book 4, “Glorious Death” guarantees a cool, heroic end for your character (and, following from that, at least one appearance), while the “Live in the Galaxy Ascendant” perk guarantees multiple appearances in the series, starting in book 4, and at least one direct interaction with a main character (which one will be dependant on where we end up placing your character.)
These limited availability rewards are both the best way to support this ambitious project, and a way to get yourselves into an awesome science fiction universe.
Back today, before it’s too late, and I hope to see you—yes, you—in the Galaxy Ascendant, very soon!
Oh and while we’re here, check out the latest update on the cover art. Won’t be long now!
Backed! Thought I had already.
