It’s a new year, which means it’s time to lay out my (writing) plans for this year. A lot of preparation was done last year so I can make this one my best yet. So, let’s get started!
Year of the Isekai
Light Unto Another World:
You’ve heard me talk about this exciting new series, so I’m not going to get into the details about it here. But this series will have the lion’s share of my focus this year.
I already have volumes 1-5 of the series fully written, and once I do one more editorial pass on them, they’ll be ready to go. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, the kicsktarter for these 5 books will be launching on Tuesday, January 19th, and I hope to get the books (the ebooks at least) into backers’ hands by the end of March (only thing that might impact that is how fast the remaining art can get done, and if we blow through my expectations & necessitate additional internal artwork or other rewards.) There will be a bunch of fun stretch goals that’ll allow me to take this project to an entirely new level, so get hype, and be ready to help spread the word!
Volume 6 of the series is already past the halfway mark, and I will be finishing volumes 6-10 this year. If all goes well, I’d crowdfund those shortly after Volume 5 releases, and I’d love to be able to get out most of this batch before 2021 ends.
Mecha Serialized Story
I’ve been working on prepping a serialized mecha story (set in the Galaxy Ascendant), that will be exclusive to my Patreon & Subscribestar supporters. I want to have several installments ready before launch, as well as a piece of promotional art. If all goes well, within a month or two that’ll get going, and if it does well, the amount of content there will only increase.
Secret Short Story
This’ll technically be my first written project of the year, as I really need to finish it ASAP. In a first for me, this’ll be story set in another author’s universe. Not sure when it’ll be out, as I’m not sure when he plans to release the anthology. Once I know more, so will you!
That’s already a lot I’m committing to this year (in addition to, hopefully, at least weekly posts here). However, if things go well, I also plan to do more prep work on the sequel to my (thus far) only released fantasy novel, The Dragon Hand. It had to take a back seat first to the Galaxy Ascendant series, and again to Light Unto Another World, but I haven’t forgotten about it, and I do plan on at least getting the outline for the book done. It’ll mean another epic John Zeleznik art featuring a dragon, so I’d like to make that happen sooner, rather than later.
So yeah, big plans for this year. I’ve been seeing growth over the last couple years, but it’s been a little too slow for my liking. So, into overdrive!
I’m excited, and I hope you’ll all join me in the adventure of 2020 season 2–I mean 2021.
Oh, I’ve also applied for the next season of Ninja Israel, so my goal of being (I think) the first author to compete on a Ninja Warrior show is still on the table. Gotta keep up the physical activity too, after all. 🙂
Until next time!
