A Call to Arms

In my last post, I brought up the culture war, and some of the reasons why people on the Right essentially ceded the creative fields to the left, and hasn’t supported ideological allies who come under attack by the leftist mobs. fortunately, however, there has been resistance to the creeping cancer recently. We had #GamerGate two years back, along with the Sad Puppies and Rabid Puppies, and now we have the #PulpRevolution, #ComicsGate, and even sports fans joining the fight this week.

Recently, one of our strongest voices in this fight, Daddy Warpig, posted an excellent Twitter thread that serves both as a call to arms and as a reminder of what we need to be doing, and that this is a fight that we are quite capable of winning.

I don’t think any commentary of mine would add much to the thread, so I’m simply going to share it below.  It’s important that all of us see this, as, frankly, it’s very easy to think that this is a hopeless struggle for the soul of our favorite entertainment mediums.

It’s going to be a long, hard fight, but I agree that it is eminently winnable. In that vein, I hope for my next several posts here to be more focused on topics more directly relating to writing. I’ve got another part in my more recent series on non-human characters, and a couple of review of excellent books to write, of books that are on our side of this war.

Oh, and I have a book too, and another due out in November. And, if you sign up for my mailing list, you’ll get a free novelette (and more free short fiction in the future). Until next time, keep writing, and keep fighting!
